An Unexpected Question on Handling Hurt

A couple of years ago, a friend asked me, “What do you do when somebody belittles or is mean to you?” I was taken aback by the sudden question, as I am someone who values peace in my life. I responded, “If someone bothers me, especially if they are important to me, I try to communicate.

But if nothing changes even after expressing what is bothering me, I choose to leave because I value my self-respect and inner peace.” I posed the same question to my friend, and his response was, “When something like this happens, I want to be more powerful than the person.” I didn’t fully grasp his perspective at that time.

A Hospital Experience That Changed My Perspective

Fast forward to a few days ago, as mentioned in my previous blog, my mother is unwell, requiring frequent visits to the hospital. The hospital is always bustling, and getting an appointment takes months.

Desperate for prompt medical assistance, we turned to an acquaintance, an aunt we have known for years. She claimed to know a nurse at the hospital who could help us with an appointment. Gratefully, we connected with the nurse, and my mother’s treatment began with various investigations.

However, a few days later, the nurse started inquiring about my marital status, mentioning that her nephew was looking for someone, and she could arrange a meeting. Given our current worries and concerns, we politely declined. Instantly, her demeanor changed.

Subsequently, the coordination of my mother’s treatment became chaotic. We struggled to connect with her doctor, running around the hospital to ensure my mother received the correct treatment. Despite the challenges, I believe things will fall into place soon.

In that moment, I understood why my friend wanted to be more powerful than the other person. It’s the frustration and anger that arise when witnessing something wrong unfold, especially when it’s not your fault.

Why give someone false hope when you are not interested in the first place. I couldn’t help but wonder why people extend help only to take advantage of others’ situations. But as the saying goes, “what goes around comes around.” It’s just a matter of time.

Lessons Learned: The Impact of Small Choices

In the end, I would like to say life often presents us with unexpected challenges and encounters. It’s during these moments that we discover the strength within ourselves and the resilience needed to navigate through uncertainties.

My recent experiences with my mother’s health and the unexpected turn of events at the hospital have taught me valuable lessons about the complexities of human interactions. Despite the hurdles we may face, the belief that “what goes around comes around” serves as a reminder that, in time, justice and balance have a way of restoring order.

As I look forward to brighter days for my family and myself, I invite you to share your thoughts and experiences in the comments. Let us continue this journey of self-discovery and growth together.
