Trust the Journey: Why Everything Happens for a Reason

Trust the journey of life. Explore lessons on patience, love, career, and personal growth. These remind us that everything happens for a reason.

Trust the journey

Have you ever had one of those of those days or maybe months, or even years where where you wonder if your life will ever work out the way you dream it will? No matter how hard you try, nothing seems to work out? You’re putting in the effort, showing up every day, doing everything “right,” but the results just aren’t coming. Meanwhile, it feels like everyone around you is moving forward while you’re stuck in place.

I know that feeling too well. There were times I lay awake at night wondering if I was on the wrong path entirely. There were times when I questioned whether my dreams were just childish fantasies that would never come true. At times, I thought of the future and wondered if I’d ever find my people.

But here’s what I’ve come to understand after going through those dark moments: Life has a way of working itself out when we least expect it. The universe operates on its own timeline, not ours. And often, what feels like being stuck is actually preparation for what’s coming next. It is part of overcoming self-doubt, a reminder that growth is happening beneath the surface.

Life Will Work Out at the Right Time

We live in a world obsessed with speed and instant gratification. From fast food to next-day delivery to overnight success stories, we’re conditioned to want everything now. Society has created arbitrary timelines that dictate when we should graduate, get married, buy a house, and reach career milestones.

But here’s the truth no one tells you: Those timelines are complete nonsense.

Some of the most successful people in history found their calling later in life. Colonel Harland Sanders was 62 when he franchised Kentucky Fried Chicken after a lifetime of various jobs and failures. Vera Wang didn’t enter the fashion industry until she was 40. Stan Lee didn’t create his first hit comic until he was nearly 40. Julia Child published her first cookbook at the age of 50.

What does this tell us? These stories prove that success takes time and doesn’t always follow society’s timelines. It’s all about accumulating all those experiences, even the painful ones, that prepare you for when your moment comes.

I want you to try something. Think back to a time when something didn’t work out the way you wanted. Maybe it was a job you didn’t get, or a relationship that ended. But look at how your life unfolded after that. Perhaps that “failure” led you somewhere better, even if you couldn’t see it at the time.

That’s how life works. The delays, the detours, the closed doors, all those are not punishments, they’re proof that everything happens for a reason. These are redirections

Why the Right People Stay and the Wrong People Leave

This is one of the hardest life lessons I’ve had to learn. As we move through life, we meet so many people – friends, partners, colleagues. Some stay for years, others just pass through. And when someone we care about leave us, it’s natural to wonder what we did wrong.

But here’s what I’ve realised: Not everyone is meant to stay in our lives forever. Some people are there to teach us specific lessons, to help us grow in certain ways, and then their part in our story is complete.

I used to cling to relationships long after they’d run their course because I was afraid of being alone. I’d make excuses for people who treated me poorly, convincing myself that if I just loved them harder, things would change.

But the right people don’t require you to shrink yourself or beg for basic respect. They show up consistently. They make you feel safe, not anxious. They inspire you to grow rather than hold you back. Sometimes, you need to let go of toxic relationships to make space for healthier ones.

Take a moment to think about the people in your life right now. Who makes you feel truly seen and valued? Who drains your energy? Be honest with yourself. Letting go isn’t failure, it’s making space for better connections.

Your Dream Life

Close your eyes and imagine your ideal life five years from now. Not the life others expect of you, but the one that makes your soul feel at peace.

Picture your home. Not just the physical space, but the feeling it gives you. That sense of belonging, of comfort, of finally being exactly where you’re meant to be. For many of us, having a place that genuinely feels like ours is a deep longing. A home reflects its owner – your tastes, your journey, your hard work.

Now let’s think about career. The truth is, most people don’t land their dream job right away. We take wrong turns, accept positions that aren’t perfect fits, and make mistakes. But here’s the beautiful part: Those “wrong” jobs are teaching you exactly what you do and don’t want. They’re building skills you’ll need later. They’re helping you clarify your true passions.

I love what Rhonda Byrne wrote in “The Power” – that everything operates on feeling and energy. There’s incredible power in vividly imagining your ideal life and connecting with how that feels. Try this exercise today, where you describe your perfect day five years from now in as much detail as possible. What are you doing? Who’s with you? How does it feel? Write it down and revisit it often.

Love has great power

Love is a topic that’s inspired countless poems, songs, and stories throughout human history because it’s so fundamental to our experience. It has excellent power and can lift us to incredible heights or break us down completely.

Here’s what I’ve learned: The love meant for you won’t make you question your worth. It won’t be a constant struggle. It won’t leave you feeling drained. Love constantly nurtures and supports. It helps you become the best version of yourself without trying to change who you are.

If you’re in a relationship that feels more like a burden than a blessing, ask yourself: Is this how love should feel? Sometimes people aren’t bad – they’re just not right for you. And letting go creates space for what is.

Leisurely Sundays and Terrific Holidays Are Coming

We live in a culture that glorifies being constantly busy, hustling, grinding, and sleeping when you’re totally drained and tired. But this mentality is dangerous. Continuous work without proper rest leads to burnout, anxiety, and depression. And what’s heartbreaking is how many people suffer in silence because they don’t want to burden others or appear weak.

Let me tell you something important: Rest is not laziness. It’s not a luxury. It’s a biological necessity. Just as fields must lie fallow to regain fertility, we need downtime to replenish our mental and emotional reserves.

Think about those perfect leisurely Sundays where you have nowhere to be, no alarms set. The kind of day where you can sip coffee slowly, read a book just for pleasure, or take a long walk without watching the clock. These moments aren’t frivolous – they’re essential to our wellbeing.

And travel? It’s one of life’s most outstanding teachers. Experiencing new places, meeting people from different backgrounds, seeing how others live – these experiences expand our perspective in ways nothing else can. Travel changes how we see ourselves and our place in the world.

If money or responsibilities make big trips impossible right now, try being a tourist in your own city. Visit that museum you’ve always meant to see. Try a restaurant serving cuisine you’ve never had. Small adventures can be just as nourishing.

You Will Help Others in Ways You Can’t Imagine

Your struggles aren’t wasted. The challenges you’ve faced, the lessons you’ve learned, they’re preparing you to help others in ways you can’t yet foresee.

I’m reminded of a story about Min Yoongi (SUGA of BTS). After ordering food, he called the delivery person and told him not to rush and to drive safely. Even if the food takes an hour, it doesn’t matter. Isn’t it a simple act of kindness? Imagine how that made the delivery person feel seen, valued, and humanised.

We never know how our small acts of kindness might impact someone. Like holding a door open, giving a genuine compliment, and listening without judgment, all these moments create ripples we may never see, but they matter.

Try this today, do one small act of kindness without expecting anything in return. Notice how it makes you feel. Often, these moments nourish the giver as much as the receiver.

Trust the Journey of your Life

Your life isn’t a puzzle with missing pieces. It’s a masterpiece in progress. Every experience, every person, every seeming setback is part of the larger picture that’s still unfolding.

Let me share a personal story. Recently, I was working on an Instagram post. Everything was perfect – the words, the layout. Then, my computer suddenly crashed, and I lost hours of work. I was furious. But when I started over, the new version was even better than the original. What seemed like a disaster was actually an opportunity.

That’s how life works. When something gets deleted from your story, it’s making space for something better to enter. When a door closes, it’s because what’s behind it wasn’t meant for you long-term.

The universe doesn’t make mistakes. You are exactly where you need to be right now, learning precisely what you need to know. The doubts, the fears, the uncertainty – they’re all part of your becoming. So whenever doubt creeps in, remind yourself to trust the journey and timing of your life. Your story is unfolding perfectly.

Save this post for those days when you need reminding. Come back to it when doubt creeps in. And know this with absolute certainty: Your life isn’t just going to be okay. It’s going to be extraordinary.

Now I’d love to hear from you – which part of this resonated most with you today? Let me know in the comments below.
