A Podcast Discovery!
One of my hobbies these days is listening to podcasts. Recently, I discovered the cube personality test meaning while listening to On Purpose with Jay Shetty. In one episode, the anchor quizzed Jay Shetty using this fascinating personality test, sparking my curiosity to learn more.
Personality test: A way to connect
It seemed fun and made me realize it is an excellent way to connect with different people. Breaking the ice becomes easier with it and bond over the conversation when awkward silence occurs. Additionally, it helps in looking at a deeper level of the personality and helps in understanding better the other person or self.
This personality test is called the Cube personality test and was developed by Japanese psychologists.
The quiz was first published in the best-selling book Kokology by Japanese authors Tadahiko Nagao and Isamu Saito. From the Japanese word Kokoro meaning heart, the term Kokology was coined to describe study of feelings.
The beauty of these personality tests is that they are interesting for anyone. These books pose psychological and hypothetical questions to uncover attitudes toward life of a person. It is like a discovery game.
How to Take the Cube Personality Test?
You can do it yourself or ask a friend to dictate the distinct steps/questions.
Try to visualize each answer well and describe them. Here we go, step by step. Say what comes to you.
Step 1: Visualize the Desert or Large Empty Room
Try to imagine a desert or a large empty room.
Step 2: Imagine the Cube
Imagine a cube in that desert or a large empty room. Now describe this cube: What is the size? Is it big or small? What it is made of? What does the surface look like? Is it Transparent?
Where is it? Describe the position of the cube. – Is it buried in the sand? Is it sitting on top or floating?
How big is the cube compared to the desert?
Step 3: Add the Ladder
Third step would be to imagine that there is a ladder in the same place. Ask these questions: What is the size of that ladder? How is it arranged? Is it close to the cube? Where is it located? Is it leaning?
Step 4: Introduce the Horse
Fourth step would be then to imagine, there is a horse in the same place. You describe its characteristic like: What does it look like? Is it roaming or tied up? Where is it to the cube? Whether it is close or far off? Is the Horse wearing a saddle?
Step 5: Visualise Flowers
Fifth step would be to try visualize flowers appearing in that desert or big empty room. Ask these questions: How many are there? Where are they concerning the other elements like horse, ladder & cube?
Step 6: Picture the Storm
The last step and final step is to imagine there comes a storm in that place. Now, you must describe the storm: How is this storm? Gigantic? Tiny?
Does the storm destroy everything in its path? Is the storm away or right in the thick of it? Distance between storm and cube? Is the storm affecting the horse, flower, cube, and ladder?

Discover Inner Self
After answering the questions, check below for the interpretations:
CUBE
The cube represents the ego and its extension. If its size is big, it indicates confidence, whereas a small cube suggests modesty. Moreover, the material represents feelings and how tough you appear to others.
Additionally, the surface signifies what is visible to others or what you want them to perceive. For example, a transparent cube shows honesty and predictability, while an opaque one suggests hidden aspects or secrecy.
Another crucial factor is its position. A cube placed on the sand indicates you are down to earth, while a buried cube suggests strong planning abilities. Finally, the cube’s size relative to the desert reflects your ego: the larger it is, the more highly you think of yourself.
LADDER
The ladder represents your friends and family. The size would correspond to the number of friends you have. The number of friends can range from a few to a large group of friends.
If the ladder leans on the cube, your friends rely on you for help. The distance between the cube and the ladder shows how close-knit you are with your friends and family.
Additionally, if it is below the cube, your friends will see you as an authoritative figure. If the cube is on the same level, you and your friends consider each other as equals. If the ladder is above the cube, you see your friends as authoritative figures.
HORSE
The horse represents your partner/lover. It could be playing, running, or grazing right next to your cube or across the field. If the horse is playing signifies the partner does not take life seriously or gets sulking feelings over little matters.
A horse running around depicts a partner who respects the space in a relationship and would give alone time if needed by the other significant. If the Horse is sleeping/grazing describe the partner as calm and fully invested in the relationship.
If the horse is tied up, it shows the need to control a relationship. A horse with a saddle indicates that you feel safe with them. A free and unsaddled horse might mean you view your lover as unpredictable and uncontrollable.
Another factor to consider about the horse is its distance from the cube. The distance between the horse and the cube represents the kind of rapport you have with your partner.

FLOWER
Flowers represent children or the desire to have children. The more flowers, the more children you desire. The closer the flower is to the cube, the closer you feel to your children or the thought of having children.
The location would mean the level of independence desired by you. However, the modified version represents flowers for your family and friends. Number of flowers reflects your popularity, and their location indicates how close you are to your social groups.
STORM
The storm represents some obstacle in your life or stress. The size of the storm represents how big an obstacle this is to you, as does the distance. So, if you imagine a storm raging right above your cube, it might be a good idea to reduce stress in your daily life or seek medical help if needed.
If the storm passes, the issue is current and will be resolute soon. Additionally, If the storm stays put, it has been an ongoing obstacle in your life with no resolution in sight.
The further away from the storm the less importance you place on it. If the storm is violent, it means this obstacle is causing grief. If the storm is turning everything in its path describes as you are feeling overwhelmed with your current situation.
